Marzia Salgarello is Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery since 2014 at the Catholic University of “Sacro Cuore”, Rome, Italy.
Since 2014 she is the Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the University Hospital “A. Gemelli”, Rome, Italy, where she also is in charge of the Plastic Surgery Specialization Course (Plastic Surgery Residency) of the Catholic University of “Sacro Cuore”, Rome, Italy. At the present time she focuses her activity on breast reconstruction and aesthetic, and in post-oncologic reconstructive microsurgery, performing more about 100 free flaps each year as first surgeon. She is author of about 90 peer-reviewed articles, of chapters on reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery in 10 books, and she is the Editor of the book “Breast reconstruction: current techniques” published by InTech in 2012. She has given presentations at national and international plastic surgery meetings, especially covering all aspects of breast reconstruction and aesthetic breast surgery, and microsurgery. She is Section Editor for reconstructive plastic surgery for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal, Reviewer for Archives of Plastic Surgery and Acta Otorhinolaryngologica Italica, Member of the Italian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (SICPRE), of the Italian Society of Microsurgery (SIM), of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), of the International Society of Plastic Regenerative Surgery (ISPRES), and of the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS).
