Maurice Nahabedian, MD is a Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Medicine – Inova Branch and has been in private practice at the National Center for Plastic Surgery in McLean, Virginia since 2017.
Following his graduation from the UCI-College of Medicine in 1987, he went on to complete a full residency in General Surgery at UCI in 1992. He received his training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1992 – 1995. Following residency, he joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins and was the residency Program Director from 1999-2005. In 2005, he was recruited to Georgetown University by Scott Spear and remained there until 2017 where he was a Professor and the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Nahabedian has published over 210 scientific manuscripts, editorials, and discussions; served as principal or associate editor of 10 textbooks, and written 94 book chapters focused primarily on aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast. He was an associate editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from 2005 – 2009 and was the Breast Section Editor from 2009 – 2017. He remains on the editorial board of 4 other journals and is a reviewer for over 30 journals. Dr. Nahabedian has been a visiting professor at 111 hospitals and universities nationally and internationally and has delivered over 1,200 lectures on topics related to reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery. He is the current Board Vice President of Education for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, was Chairman of the 2018 and 2019 Annual Meeting for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and has chaired 20 plastic surgery conferences nationally and internationally. Dr. Nahabedian is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American College of Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons, Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Americas Hernia Society.
